Is there a setting to stop this or is it possible to have DDM keep the list the same before and after operations.
I have a DDM part that is a Pro/E family table instance, and I would like to convert the instance to a standalone model while retaining all of the existing DDM links (e.g. where used, drawing).
I'm familiar with the Pro/E steps required to make an instance standalone, but I'm missing the steps to have DDM play along.

Can the "parent-child relation removal" tool in DDM Admin (Maintenance > DB Integrity) be used to sever the link between the instance and the generic? If not, is there another way to remove the generic-instance link?
Thanks in advance.
Just a couple of quick questions about downloading install media with the new CSI Downloader...

- Will I need to launch the CSI Downloader to determine if a newer software build is available for download (i.e. by looking at the build code displayed on the first page)? With the previous FTP site, I could quickly see a listing of the available builds, but I presume this won't be possible now.

- I assume the Downloader will always default to the most recent build, but will there be an option to download an older build? While I've never had to roll-back to an earlier DDM build due to bugs or issues, I have had to do this a few times with a certain MCAD package.
Thanks in advance.
Once I have opened an assembly in Solid Edge, how do I reserve a component that I want to modify?
One way is to find its name, then search for it in DDM, then right-click on it and choose "reserve". But that is tedious. If I pull down an assembly there should be a quicker way to start working on it?

A quick question for the SQL Server gurus out there...

We're finally getting a dedicated server so I can get the DDM Server application off my workstation, and our IT guy has just asked me to confirm that we won't require a separate SQL Server license. We're currently using the SQL Server 2005 Express that came packaged with the DDM Server installation media, and we're not having any issues. I understood that MSDE (the predecessor to SQL Server Express) had a 25 concurrent user limitation... this is a non-issue for us, but I'm wondering about the 4GB maximum database size for Express (vs. unlimited database size for full-blown SQL Server).

Please excuse my database ignorance, but does the 4GB limit apply to the DesignDataManager_log.LDF, DesignDtaManager.mdf file or both? Currently our .LDF file is 470 MB and the .mdf file is 17 MB.

Assuming that SQL Server 2005 Express is more than adequate for our current needs, if in the future we need to move to a full-blown SQL Server (due to database size), is this a fairly simple migration?

Thanks in advance for any input.
Our DDM server is running Windows Server 2003 with all updates, and SQL 2005 Standard.

At the time of the DDM upgrade I'll be applying service pack 3 to the SQL 2005 Server, I'm not aware of DDM having any issues with this ?.

With Solid Edge, DDM never automatically cleans out your working directory.

My working directory now contains some 1,600 files, and I don't know how many of them are up-to-date stored into DDM.

How can I en-mass get all of these items saved into DDM, so that I can wipe my working directory?
